A little about us

Hello!

We're Rod & Debs Winrow and we've been inspiring people to live outdoors since 1996. We're a family run, garden design, construction and styling company.

We started out small but over the years the Garden House Design family has grown to include a team of dedicated professionals as passionate as we are about you and your outdoor space.

We love what we do! Why? Because we love to live outdoors and we enjoy working with our clients to release the potential within their garden, whether that be a simple courtyard or acres of space, so, however you like to enjoy the outdoors, we’re sure we will too!

from kids camps to canopies with style

We've come a long way. Growing up on completely different sides of the world, an English South Coast kid, and a Kiwi growing up in the East Coast Bays of Auckland, both our childhoods were full of making camps, climbing trees, hanging at the beach and having adventures. This love never really left us, and after 30 years together, a wonderful daughter, couple of crazy cats and a business to be proud of, we're still making camps for ourselves {beach-hut a prime example!}.

Even better, we also get to design and help our clients make their own "camps". The designs developed are unique for each client and ready to share with their family and friends. Some might include a fab kitchen, generally a bar - well who wouldn't {for grown-ups of course!}, firepits, cosy sofas, music laughter and more.

{side note: if you ever wondered why our daughter's middle name is Summer? .... Well if you join our worlds together you get one continious summer! Another nod to our love of living outdoors for as long as we can!}

That’s why we belong to trade associations with stringent criteria who monitor our work to ensure you’re getting the best possible service. We also employ our staff and are always on site if we need to bring in subcontractors for any part of your project where we might need specialist support. Luckily our team are a very skilled and experienced bunch and over the years they’ve built some award-winning outdoor spaces – take a peek here. When we’re not designing and building gardens, we’re busy sourcing the very best outdoors products for you to enjoy. All our products are chosen with great care to attention. We don't pick anything that we haven't used in our own designs or in our own gardens. Each season our very favourite items go straight onto our on-line web shop so you can enjoy and buy them straight away. We'll also share these when we are commissioned to design and build for you. Alternatively, why not book one of our outdoor stylists who would love to design and style any of your outdoor spaces {or we will happily style inside as well!}, then simply book an appointment.
